Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 1,000 g beef
  • 1,000 g onion(s)
  • 30 g garlic, half to a whole bulb
  • 30 g lard
  • 15 g tomato paste
  • 15 g salt
  • 2 g pepper
  • 2 g caraway seeds
  • 500 ml water

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes

Sear the diced meat in small batches. Peel and quarter the onions, and fry them lightly as well. Combine all the remaining ingredients in a large pot and simmer for 2-6 hours. Depending on how long you’re cooking, you’ll need to add more water or more often. Serve with spaetzle, potatoes, or noodles.
