Chili con Spätzle

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 clove(s) garlic, chopped
  • 400 g minced meat
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp thyme
  • salt and pepper
  • 3 dl orange juice
  • 3 dl vegetable broth
  • 1 red bell pepper(s), diced
  • 1 green bell pepper(s), diced
  • 1 can corn kernels, drained approx. 280 g
  • 750 g spaetzle, cooked
  • 150 g cheese (Emmental), mild, finely grated
  • Parsley

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

A slightly different chili con carne

Brown the minced meat, add the onions and garlic, and fry. Add the tomato puree and chili powder and sauté for about 1 minute. Season with thyme, salt, and pepper. Pour in the orange juice and vegetable stock. Add the bell peppers and corn to the meat and cook, covered, for about 10 minutes. Add the spaetzle and simmer for another 5 minutes, adding a little more liquid if necessary. Sprinkle with parsley and serve with the cheese. Serve with salad.
