Meatloaf on potato gratin

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 500 g minced meat, mixed
  • salt and pepper
  • 200 g cheese (Gouda)
  • 1 tsp herbs de Provence
  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 125 ml milk or cream
  • 1 stale bread roll (or breadcrumbs)
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Soak the bread roll in water, then squeeze out any excess water. Wash and finely chop the parsley. Mix both with the egg and minced meat. Season the meat mixture generously with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Cut the cheese into thick blocks. Shape the meat mixture into a flat, oblong loaf. Place the cheese in the center and enclose it with the meat mixture. Place in a buttered baking dish and sprinkle with the herbs. Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly. Season generously with salt, pepper, and nutmeg and arrange them around the meatloaf. Pour over the milk or cream and bake in the oven at 200°C for about one hour.
