Poppies with Plum Jam

The perfect poppies with plum jam recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 100 g Poppy seeds fresh
  • 200 g Butter
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 1 medium size Egg
  • 1 Glass Plum jam
  • 250 g Spelled flour
  • 1 pinch Salt
  1. Crush the poppy seeds in a mortar or grind in a coffee grinder.
  2. Mix the butter, sugar, egg and salt, then add the poppy seeds and finally the flour and knead everything into a dough.
  3. Chill in the refrigerator for an hour.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut it out. I made this with a flower cutter.
  5. Then in the preheated oven 160c for 10-12 minutes. Depending on the oven, this is how it works with mine.
  6. Let the cookies cool down.
  7. Gently heat the plum jam. Then place on the biscuits without a hole, then put the ones with a hole on top. Sprinkle with a little powdered sugar and put on a grid, ideally let cool overnight.
