Pork steaks with tomatoes, mozzarella and basil

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 pork steaks
  • 250 ml tomato(s), pureed
  • 250 ml broth
  • 250g mozzarella
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 1 bunch of basil
  • 250 mg sour cream
  • salt and pepper
  • oil
  • possibly flour

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Score the tomatoes crosswise, place them in boiling water, rinse with cold water, peel, and slice. Pound the meat lightly, season, and sear on both sides in oil, then remove. Deglaze the pan with stock, add the passata, add half of the chopped basil, and season to taste with salt and pepper. Pour the sauce into a baking dish and spread the meat on top. Place the tomato slices on top of the meat and top with mozzarella slices. Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes. Carefully remove the meat slices, tomatoes, and cheese, and keep warm. Stir the sour cream into the sauce, season again, and thicken with a little more flour if desired. Add the remaining chopped basil leaves to the sauce before serving.
