Gyros – Pita – Pockets

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 400 g pork schnitzel
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp salt (gyro seasoning salt)
  • 250 g quark (low-fat quark)
  • 250 g natural yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 onions
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 1 head of iceberg lettuce
  • 1 bag of bread(s) (sandwich toast bags, 400 g; 6 pieces)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Wash the meat, pat dry, and cut into thin strips. Combine the oil and seasoned salt. Mix with the meat and let it absorb slightly. Fry in a pan for about 8 minutes. For the garlic quark, combine the quark and yogurt. Press the garlic into the quark and yogurt. Season with salt and pepper. For the filling, cut the onions into thin rings, the tomatoes into thin wedges, and the lettuce into thin strips. Mix the salad ingredients. Cut the toast parcels open crosswise, moisten lightly with a little water, and heat in the toaster for 2-3 minutes on a low to medium setting. Fill the parcels with lettuce, gyros, and garlic quark.
