Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g rice
  • 4 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 90 g butter
  • 600 g minced beef
  • 150 g cheese, grated
  • 250 ml milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 lemon(s), the juice
  • Salt
  • Sauce thickener

Moussaka with rice

Cook the rice as usual, transfer it to a colander, and let it dry slightly. Peel the onions, finely dice them, and sauté them in the butter. Add the meat and fry, stirring constantly. Mix with the rice, season with salt, and transfer to a casserole dish. Stir in the cheese evenly. Bring the milk to a boil and thicken with a sauce thickener. Remove the thickened milk from the heat, let it cool slightly, and slowly stir it into the beaten eggs. Add the lemon juice, season with salt, and pour over the casserole mixture. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, until the surface begins to brown. Serve with the salad.
