Anni’s Red Herring Salad
The perfect anni’s red herring salad recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 3 Herring fillet
- 250 ml Milk
- 150 g Beetroot from the glass
- 60 g Gherkins
- 60 g Apple, cut ready
- 1 Shallot
- 3 tbsp Sour cream
- 0,333333 tsp Dijon mustard
- Salt
- Pepper from the grinder
- Sugar
- Rinse the matjes with cold water, pat dry and cut into bite-sized pieces and soak in milk for an hour. Cut the beetroot into small cubes. It is best to work with disposable gloves – beetroot colors! Peel and finely chop the shallot. Peel and quarter the apple, remove the core and cut into small cubes. Also cut the pickled cucumber into small cubes.
- Mix the sour cream with mustard and season with salt, pepper and 2-3 pinches of sugar. Mix the sour cream with the other ingredients and let it steep for at least 1 hour. Tastes great on bread or with potato pancakes.
