Baking: Orange Slices

The perfect baking: orange slices recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 100 g Butter
  • 2 tablespoon Orange sugar, homemade
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 120 g Sugar
  • 1 piece Orange untreated – juice and peel
  • 3 piece Eggs from Johanna, separated
  • 30 g Food starch
  • 90 g Flour
  • 100 g Ground almonds
  • 150 g Powdered sugar
  • 1 cl Orange liqueur*
  • 1 teaspoon Cream
  • 4 tablespoon Bitter orange jam *
  1. Mix the butter with the orange sugar, half of the sugar and salt until frothy.
  2. Beat the egg whites until stiff and mix with the rest of the sugar.
  3. Add the egg yolk and white, the juice and the grated zest of the orange to the butter mixture and mix carefully.
  4. Carefully fold in the flour, almonds and starch with a spoon (not a mixer).
  5. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Grease and crumble a rectangular cake tin (35 x 23 cm) and pour in the batter. Bake for about 15 minutes.
  6. Remove the sheet of dough from the mold and place on a wire rack. Halve lengthways.
  7. Make a glaze from powdered sugar, orange liqueur and cream and cover half of the dough sheet with it. Now let both parts cool down completely.
  8. Spread the jam generously on the other half of the dough and cover with the half covered with icing.
  9. Garnish with candy or fresh orange wedges and serve with half-whipped cream.
