The perfect stuffed apples and onions – gratinated alla trapper recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1 piece Vegetable onion
- 1 piece Onion
- 2 piece Garlic cloves
- 2 piece Apples
- 0,25 liter Vegetable broth
- 250 g Mixed minced meat
- 100 g Pizza cheese / sliced cheese
- 0,5 bunch Fresh thyme or alternatively rosemary
- 1 pinch Pepper, salt and nutmeg
- 200 g Whipped cream
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- 1 tablespoon Flour
- Cheese to be gratinated
- Peel the vegetable onion, cut in half crosswise and cook in the vegetable stock in a closed pot for about 15 minutes.
- Dice the onion, chop the garlic, wash the thyme, pat dry and remove the stems. Chop the leaves into small pieces. Season the minced meat to taste and mix with the onion, pizza cheese and thyme leaves.
- Wash the apples, cut in half crosswise and core. Remove the onions from the broth – keep the broth! Place the apples and onions in a baking dish with the cut surface facing up. Spread the minced meat evenly on top.
- Bring a tablespoon of butter to a simmer in a saucepan. Stir in the flour with the whisk and deglaze with the onion stock. Stir in the cream and stir steadily until the sauce has thickened. Season to taste with pepper, salt and nutmeg.
- Pour the sauce over the apples and onions. Sprinkle cheese on top and bake everything at 175 degrees hot air or 200 degrees top / bottom heat for about 40 minutes.
- Side dishes: We usually eat mashed potatoes with it – but since I didn’t feel like it anymore, I just cooked rice with it. Was delicious too!
