Snack / Starter: Spicy Chilli Cheese Thalers with Camembert and Parmesan

The perfect snack / starter: spicy chilli cheese thalers with camembert and Parmesan recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 2 Camembert of 125 g
  • 70 g Grated Parmesan
  • 1 Egg
  • 0,5 Chilli red fresh
  • 1 large Clove of garlic
  • 3 tbsp Ajvar mild
  • 2 tbsp Frozen parsley
  • 3 tbsp Breadcrumbs
  • 80 g Tortilla chips with cheese
  • 1 tsp Red chilli flakes
  • 1 pinch Ground cumin
  • 1 pinch Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Sweet paprika
  • Salt, colored pepper from the mill

For the breading:

  • 5 tbsp Flour
  • 3 Eggs
  • 5 tbsp Breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp Red pepper flakes
  • 3 tsp Sesame

aside from that:

  • 6 tbsp Vegetable oil for frying
  1. Wash and remove the chilli pepper (leave the seeds in for extra spiciness) and dice. Peel and chop garlic. Finely grind the tortilla chips in the universal chopper and mix with the breadcrumbs. Roughly chop the camembert and place in a bowl. Add the Parmesan, egg, chilli, garlic, ajvar, parsley, 3 tablespoons of the breadcrumb mixture and spices. Add a little salt and pepper and stir everything a little. Use the food processor to make a fine paste that is malleable, otherwise after adding some of the breadcrumbs.
  2. Mix the rest of the breadcrumb mixture with 5 more tablespoons of breadcrumbs, paprika flakes and sesame seeds. Put in a deep plate. Put the flour and eggs into deep plates and whisk the eggs together.
  3. Form approx. 3 cm large thalers out of the cheese mass. First roll in flour, then in egg and finally in the breadcrumbs. Repeat everything again in the same order. Cover and chill for at least two hours until preparation.
  4. Heat the oil in a pan. Fry the cheese thaler in it all around until golden brown. It’s relatively quick, so always have a look at it and don’t let it get too dark, otherwise the cheese will leak. Degrease on a piece of kitchen roll and serve.
  5. A nice snack or starter for guests, dinner for us. I also served a chilli tomato dip and avocado orange salad with pomegranate seeds. Both recipes in my KB, links to them in step six. Have fun trying out and enjoying!
