Make crushed ice yourself – tips and tricks
To make crushed ice yourself, all you need is conventional ice cubes.
- Remove the ice cubes from the mold and pour them onto a kitchen towel.
- Bring the ends together to form an ice cube bag.
- It is best to use a hammer to crush the ice cubes. You can also use other harder objects such as rolling pins or meat tenderizers.
- Hold the ends of the kitchen towel and gently smack the bag. Make sure you choose a firm base and avoid slamming it too hard, otherwise the towel may tear.
- Tip: If you don’t have a hammer or similar handy, you can also crush the ice cubes by banging the bag on a stone floor outside.
- If you don’t like this method, you can use a blender to crush the ice cubes instead. Be careful though, as it will quickly chop the cubes too small.
