How Do You Peel and Cut a Pineapple?

Spread the love

If you want to cut a pineapple, you face a small challenge because of the firm skin. The easiest way to peel the pineapple is with a heavy and sharp kitchen knife. Finally, the woody stalk inside the fruit is cut out with a cutter.

Before you peel the pineapple, check if the fruit is already ripe. You can recognize a ripe pineapple by its pleasantly sweet scent. It also gives easily under pressure. The inner leaves should be easy to detach from the “tuft”. First, use the knife to remove the upper part with the carpels. Do the same with the bottom end of the pineapple. Then place the fruit upright on a clean surface to begin the actual peeling. Using the kitchen knife, cut the peel vertically in generous chunks from all sides. You can then use a smaller knife to cut the brown “eyes” out of the pineapple’s yellow skin.

Now cut the peeled pineapple into slices. Now you can use a round cookie cutter to cut out the woody core from the individual pineapple slices. Serve the resulting pineapple rings or cut them into smaller, bite-sized pieces. Unsweetened, pineapple is a healthy addition to breakfast or a delicious snack between meals.
