It’s that easy to candy orange peel

Numerous fruits can be candied quickly and easily and are considered tasty snacks. We will show you below how you can candy orange peel:

  1. Wash the orange thoroughly, ideally making sure the peel has not been squirted as organic oranges do. Then use a vegetable peeler to cut the orange into small strips of orange.
  2. Put the orange peels in a saucepan full of water and bring them to a boil. Then turn the heat down and let the shells simmer on low for 20 minutes. Then let the shells cool down.
  3. Fill a small saucepan with about 1 heaping tablespoon of sugar and about ½ tablespoon of water for each orange. For example, if you took the peel from three oranges, you would need three heaped tablespoons of sugar and a tablespoon and a half of water. If necessary, add water or sugar to create a syrupy consistency.
  4. Then cook the shells in the sugar and water mixture on high for five minutes before removing and allowing them to cool.
  5. Wait a few hours before eating the candied orange peel. If you don’t want to eat them straight away, you can store them in a food storage container.
