Cut the Watermelon Correctly: It’s That Easy

Spread the love

Watermelon can be cut in different ways. Depending on how you want to eat the fruit, you can choose one of the variants. In this article, we show you three ways to cut a watermelon.

1. Classic: Cut the watermelon into slices

Here is the step-by-step recipe for classic watermelon slices:

  1. Wash and dry the watermelon before slicing. Also, place the fruit on a deep plate or in a bowl. The watermelon cannot slip away and the risk of injury is reduced in this case.
  2. Take a large knife and pierce the rind of the watermelon vertically. Pierce it far enough for the knife to stick into the flesh.
  3. Now slowly turn the fruit with your other hand and keep pressing the knife down so that the skin is cut in a circle. Repeat until you have split the fruit in half.
  4. Then cut off slices with the knife. Be careful when doing this to avoid slipping and injuring yourself. To make it easier to work, you can divide the watermelon half into two or thirds and then slice it off.

2. Cool summer hack: cut the watermelon into sticks

Watermelon can also be cut into sticks and then enjoyed comfortably in a deck chair:

  1. Halve the watermelon.
  2. Place one half, flesh-side down, on a cutting board.
  3. Then cut the fruit into slices about two centimeters wide. Halve the cut watermelon in half again.

3. For ice cream & drinks: separate the flesh from the watermelon

If you only need the pulp of the watermelon, proceed as follows:

  1. Slice the watermelon so you have two halves.
  2. Cut each half in half.
  3. Now cut the flesh at regular intervals up to the skin.
  4. Now cut the flesh lengthways to the peel.
