Olga Sharapova, MD, named the daily allowance of watermelon and listed a list of diseases for which this berry is not recommended, reports Dr. Peter.

Watermelon – benefits

Watermelon is 90% water, so it quenches thirst very well. The berry has a beneficial effect on human blood vessels and lowers blood pressure, as well as removes all toxins from the body.

Watermelon also provides the body with magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, and sodium, and helps to replenish electrolyte losses, which ordinary water cannot do.

Watermelon – contraindications

Despite the many beneficial properties, watermelon is allowed to be eaten in very limited quantities for certain diseases.

In particular, eating watermelon in limited quantities is recommended for people suffering from diarrhea, urolithiasis, atherosclerosis, and prostate adenoma. You should also not eat watermelon in case of cardiovascular disease.

How much watermelon can you eat per day?

Sharapova advises eating 200-300 grams of watermelon per day before lunch. It is not recommended to eat watermelon with other foods.

The doctor also believes that it is better not to eat early watermelons. According to her, if you buy this berry before August, there is a risk of buying low-quality goods, which can lead to poisoning.
