Grilling vegetables in an aluminum tray: these are the advantages
Aluminum trays are a practical helper when grilling, which offer a number of advantages.
- They are good for grilling vegetables. If you place your cut vegetables in an aluminum tray, they cannot slip through the grill grate and will still be cooked. In particular, you can cook smaller cut vegetables on the grill.
- With the help of an aluminum tray, your vegetables stay juicy and do not dry out. The cooking liquid stays in the bowl and does not drip into the flames. Since vitamins and minerals are removed from the grilled food with the vegetable juice, they are preserved together with the vegetables.
- Since the cooking liquid does not get into the flames or onto the coals, there are no harmful gases that could harm your health.
- You don’t have to worry about your vegetables burning. The aluminum shell absorbs most of the heat.
Be careful with acids and salt: the disadvantages
Despite many advantages, aluminum shells also have disadvantages. You should definitely consider these before using aluminum trays for grilling.
- Aluminum foil and aluminum trays can be harmful to your health. Aluminum particles can get into the vegetables during the grilling process, for example. Therefore, avoid grilling too often with aluminum foil or aluminum trays.
- Be careful with salt and acids. If you want to grill your vegetables in an aluminum tray, you should avoid salt if possible. Acids are usually contained in marinades. You should not pickle your vegetables in this.
- Reason: Salt and acid dissolve aluminum particles, which can get into the vegetables all the faster. You eat it and it is bad for your health.
- If you want to marinate or salt your vegetables, you should use other materials. Grill trays made of enamel, ceramic or stainless steel are suitable for this, for example.
