Ingredients for a pinata cake

For the popular cake with the surprising filling, you need the following ingredients in addition to 2 springform pans with a diameter of 24 centimeters:

  • 300 grams of flour
  • 180 grams of sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 130 milliliters of milk
  • 250 grams of butter
  • 200 grams of dark chocolate
  • 200 grams of jam of your choice
  • 150 grams of Smarties
  • 750 grams of fondant

Bake a pinata cake: step by step

To make the three-tier cake, follow these simple steps:

  1. First, preheat the oven to 180 degrees (circulating air).
  2. Then put the flour, sugar, milk, butter, eggs, baking powder, and vanilla sugar in a bowl and mix well to form a smooth batter.
  3. Then melt the dark chocolate (either in the microwave or in a water bath) and add the cooled mass to the dough.
  4. Now it’s time to bake. Grease the two springform tins and divide the batter evenly into the tins. Bake both cakes at 180 degrees for about 50 minutes. Then let the cakes cool down.
  5. Now cut one of the cakes in half so that you have a top and a bottom. Poke a hole (about 10 centimeters in diameter) in the middle of the second cake.
  6. Take the bottom and spread it with jam. Place the second floor with the hole on top of it. Jam is also used here. Fill the hole that now appears in the center of the cake with Smarties and place the top on the cake.
  7. So everything is closed.
  8. Spread the outside with jam as well.
  9. Finally, roll out the fondant and place it over the cake. Smooth down the sides and trim off any excess.
