Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 70 g sugar
  • 40 ml water
  • 250 g butter
  • 3 tbsp cinnamon, ground
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp clove(s), ground
  • 4 tsp cardamom
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 500 g flour
  • possibly chocolate coating
  • possibly almond(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Rest time approx. 9 hours; Total time approx. 9 hours 40 minutes

Place the sugar, water, and butter in a saucepan. Melt the butter and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add all the spices and stir gently until a smooth, dark brown liquid forms. Mix the baking soda and flour well. Then add the spice liquid and knead into a smooth dough. If the dough is too sticky, firm it up with a little flour. Be careful, the dough should not crumble or taste of flour. Chill the dough in cling film overnight or for at least 8 hours. Cut the dough into pieces and roll out each piece to a thickness of about 2-3 cm and cut out using any desired shapes. Bake at 200°C for about 5-8 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. If desired, dip in dark chocolate and decorate with almond slivers or almonds.
