Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 100 g bacon, streaky, cut into strips
- 1 onion(s), chopped
- 500 g beans, thick, shelled, fresh or frozen, thawed
- 1 sprig of mint
- 1 sprig of parsley, chopped
- 1 bay leaf
- salt and pepper

Broad beans with bacon and herbs
Brown the bacon in a pan, then stir in the onion and garlic and sauté until softened. Stir in the beans, herbs, salt, and pepper. Cover with water and simmer until the beans are tender, 6-15 minutes, depending on their age. Cook frozen beans according to the instructions. Drain, discarding the bay leaf and mint. Serve immediately.
