Vanilla ice cream with mango-ginger sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 mangoes, ripe
  • 2 limes
  • e.g. fresh ginger
  • Lemon balm, fresh
  • pepper
  • 4 servings of ice cream, vanilla

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Venezuelan dessert

Cut the mango flesh into small squares. Finely grate the fresh ginger (amount to taste). Squeeze the limes and pour the juice into a small saucepan. Add the ginger and about one-third to one-half of the mango quarters and let them warm up. When the mango pieces are warm (softer), puree them with a handheld immersion blender, season with pepper to taste. Then add a little lemon balm and stir. Ladle the vanilla ice cream into small bowls, top with the warm purée, then top with the remaining mango quarters. It tastes delicious and is a nice mix of sweet and spicy (depending on the amount of ginger, of course).
