Citrus fruits à la Caipirinha

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 6 oranges
  • 6 limes
  • 1 grapefruit(s), pink
  • 12 tbsp cachaça (sugar cane liquor)
  • 80 g brown cane sugar
  • Orange(s) or lime(s) (slices)
  • Lemon balm

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Peel the oranges, limes, and grapefruit, removing the white pith. If desired, cut out the segments between the membranes, or slice the fruit and halve or quarter them. Mix the cachaça and sugar until the sugar dissolves. Drizzle over the fruit, cover, and chill thoroughly for at least two hours. Pour the fruit and marinade into cocktail glasses. Place an orange or lime slice around the rim of each glass and garnish with lemon balm.
