Yakitori – Japanese traditional chicken skewers

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 150 g boneless chicken thigh(s)
  • 2 spring onions
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp mirin
  • some sesame

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Cut the chicken into approximately 2 x 4 cm pieces and place them in a freezer bag. Marinate the chicken pieces with soy sauce and mirin, then refrigerate for 30 minutes to infuse the meat with a nice teriyaki flavor. Cut the spring onions into approximately 4 cm pieces. Thread the chicken pieces and spring onions onto the skewers, one after the other. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and grill the skewers for approximately 15 minutes. Sprinkle sesame seeds on the grilled skewers.
