Karkade-Ginger Tea – Mallow Flower Tea

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 handful of flowers (karkade = hibiscus, mallow), fresh
  • 1 piece(s) ginger, fresh

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

I always bring back fresh, dried karkade (mallow) flowers from my vacations in Egypt. I prepare them as follows: Place a large pot of water on the stove. Add a handful of flowers. Thinly slice the ginger and add it. Bring the tea to a boil twice, then let it cool. Bottle it and refrigerate it. This is the perfect iced tea for summer. It’s also delicious hot in winter. Tip: If desired, add the juice of 2-3 freshly squeezed limes. This gives it an extra kick!
