Cheese Hot Dog

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 6 hot dog buns
  • 6 poultry sausages
  • 1 class jar Cornichon(s), approx. 110 g
  • 1 bottle of dipping sauce (Sweet Onion Hot Dog Sauce, e.g. from Homann), approx. 450 ml
  • 1 pack of fried onions, approx. 250 g
  • 200g Cheddar
  • 190 g cream cheese spread
  • 1 cup of cooking cream, 15% fat, approx. 200 ml

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

To make the cheese sauce, melt the cheese and cheddar in a saucepan over low heat, then add the cream until it reaches the desired consistency. Meanwhile, warm the hot dog buns in a preheated oven according to the package instructions. Add the sausages to the oven or heat briefly in the microwave at 600W for 1.5 minutes. Slice the gherkins lengthwise. Cut open the buns, but do not cut all the way through. Spread some cheese sauce on the underside of the bun and top with sausage, gherkins, and fried onions to taste. Finally, pour the hot dog sauce over the top.
