Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes
Burger with fried onions, without ketchup, mayonnaise or salad
Slice the onions very thinly. If they are too thick, they won’t caramelize and won’t cook. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and roughly shape them into patties. Cut the buns open and fry them in a pan without any fat. Remove any crumbs from the pan and heat a generous amount of clarified butter in it. Place the patties in the pan and immediately flatten them with a spatula. Season with pepper and salt to taste and add the sliced onions. Don’t be stingy with the onions; they can extend well beyond the patty. Press the onions down with a spatula. Fry the patties for about 1-1.5 minutes, then flip them over. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese on the patties and put the bun on top. Fry the patties until the onions are nicely caramelized, about 2.5 to 3 minutes. Transfer everything to the bottom of the bun with the spatula.
