Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes
I got the recipe from my neighbor in the US; she’s been cooking it this way for ages. First, fry the minced meat with onions and peppers. If you want the meat a bit crispier, just add the onions and peppers a little later. Drain off any excess liquid and season with spices. Add the ketchup and mustard and mix well, taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Now simmer for 20-30 minutes. Pour the mixture onto the bottom of the burger bun while it’s hot. Place one or two slices of cheese on top and cover with the top half of the bun. In the States, you can serve it with potato chips of your choice and some coleslaw. My neighbor always adds a dash of Maggi, but I don’t particularly like it. If you like it a bit spicier, you can season the minced meat with cayenne pepper or jalapeño pepper.
