Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 600 g chicken breast fillet(s), cut into strips
  • 1 large garlic clove(s), finely chopped
  • 1 piece(s) ginger, approx. 3 cm, grated
  • ½ lemon(s) or lime, zest and juice

  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp sambal oelek
  • 4 tbsp chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 4 tbsp spring onions, cut into fine rings
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

this chicken is hot, spicy, Indian

Heat the oil in a wok and briefly fry the garlic and ginger. Then add the strips of meat to the wok and fry them vigorously. Now add all the remaining ingredients, except the spring onions, and cook for about 10 minutes. Be careful, with 4 teaspoons of sambal oelek it gets quite spicy! Season to taste with more sugar, lemon juice, and soy sauce, if desired, then stir in the spring onions. Suitable side dishes include rice, a vegetable curry, raita, or carrot salad with ginger. In India, we were given extra lime wedges for seasoning with this dish.
