Hungarian sauerkraut

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 onions
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 bell pepper(s), green
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder, sweet
  • 1 can of sauerkraut
  • 250 g smoked bacon, streaky
  • 250 ml chicken broth
  • some caraway

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Peel the onions and garlic cloves. Dice the onions and crush the garlic cloves. Halve the bell pepper, remove the seeds, wash, and dice. Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the diced onions until golden brown. Add the garlic, diced paprika, sauerkraut, bacon, broth, and caraway seeds. Cover and simmer over low heat for about 40 minutes. Then slice the bacon. Serve with bread, mashed potatoes, or boiled potatoes.
