Don Diego's gratinated garlic mashed potatoes

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 600 g potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
  • 5 garlic cloves, whole
  • 150 ml milk (more if needed)
  • 50 g butter
  • Nutmeg, freshly grated
  • salt and pepper
  • 25 g Parmesan (or Cheddar, or cheese of your choice), grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Finally, no longer solo! Puree under the (cheese) topping

Place the potatoes and the whole, unpeeled garlic cloves in a pot and just cover with water. Boil the potatoes until tender. Drain the water. Then peel the garlic cloves. Season the potatoes and garlic cloves with salt and pepper and mash them with the milk. Then stir in the butter and freshly grated nutmeg. Season to taste. Transfer the mash to a baking dish and sprinkle with grated Parmesan (or the cheese of your choice). Place under the broiler and brown lightly.
