Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 3 onions
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tomatoes
- e.g. chili
- e.g. ginger
- 2 tsp, heaped turmeric
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp curry powder
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes
Finely chop the onions, garlic, chili, ginger, and tomatoes. Heat plenty of oil in a pan and add the onions, garlic, chili, and ginger. Sauté everything thoroughly. Then add the tomatoes and sauté them as well. Now add the spices and heat until the spices release their aroma. This base can be used for many Indian dishes. For dal, add the cooked lentils and their cooking water. For sabji, add vegetables of your choice and saute everything thoroughly. Other pulses can also be prepared in this way. Taste the finished dish and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
