American garlic mashed potatoes

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes, mainly waxy or floury, peeled and quartered
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 125 g sour cream
  • 125 ml milk, warm
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • n. B. Salt (to taste)
  • e.g. black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Place the peeled and quartered potatoes in a saucepan, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer gently for 25 minutes, or until tender. Drain well and transfer to a bowl. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a pan over low heat, add the garlic, and brown lightly for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the garlic to the potatoes in the bowl. Mash the potatoes and garlic with a potato masher. Add the sour cream or sour cream, slowly pour in the warm milk, and continue mashing the potatoes. Add the vinegar and season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately. Variation: Add 6-10 tablespoons of melted butter to the mashed potatoes.
