Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 5 apples, sour (e.g. Gravensteiner or Boskop)
  • 5 tbsp flour, sifted
  • 5 tbsp sugar
  • 5 tbsp oil
  • ½ pack of baking powder
  • 5 tbsp Calvados
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 g butter
  • 150 g sugar or honey

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Peel the apples, slice them, and marinate them in Calvados. Whisk together the flour, sugar, oil, baking powder, and two eggs in a bowl. Pour the batter into a buttered and floured springform pan. Top with the apple slices and drizzle with the Calvados. Preheat the oven to 170°C (350°F) and bake the pan for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, whisk together the remaining two eggs, the melted butter, and 150g of sugar or honey. Spread the mixture over the cake and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes at 200°C (400°F). Allow the finished cake to cool slightly and remove it from the pan while still lukewarm.
