Original recipe from the USA

Place the steak in the freezer for about 2-3 hours before cooking to make it easier to handle. Cut the steak into very thin slices while it is still half frozen. Also thinly slice the onion, peppers, and mushrooms. In a large pan, first fry the onion, peppers, and mushrooms in olive oil. Then add the finely chopped steak and fry for about 3-4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Cut the baguette in half and fill it with the meat and vegetable mixture. Place a few slices of mozzarella on top of the hot mixture, and let it melt. In the USA, this is always served with well-seasoned fries and either a spicy chili sauce or ketchup.
