Grandma's pear soup

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 liter of water
  • 175 ml white wine
  • 60 g sugar
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 lemon(s), juice
  • 5 tbsp sago
  • 1 kg pear(s)
  • 2 rolls, stale
  • butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Bring water, wine, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice to a boil in a saucepan. Quarter and peel the pears, remove the cores, and cut into small slices. Add them to the boiling liquid along with the sago. Simmer in a covered pan for about 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Meanwhile, slice the bread rolls and fry them in hot butter until lightly browned on both sides. Ladle the soup onto a plate and serve the bread roll slices as a garnish.
