Beef with peppers

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g beef
  • 1 small can/s of bamboo shoot(s), sliced
  • 4 Pepper
  • 2 bell peppers
  • 50 g mu-err mushrooms
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sambal oelek
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 30 g ginger root
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 250 ml meat broth
  • 1 tbsp rice wine
  • ½ tsp five-spice powder
  • Oil (peanut oil), for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes

Stir-fry dish from Thailand

Cut the beef into thin slices. Finely chop the garlic and ginger and mix with the sugar, flour, sambal oelek, rice wine, 5-spice mix, and soy sauce. Mix the spiced sauce with the beef and let it simmer for about an hour. Brown the marinated meat in a wok for two minutes, preferably in two batches. Add the chopped vegetables and soaked mushrooms to the meat and stir-fry for two minutes. Then add the meat broth and simmer gently for another 3 to 4 minutes. Season with the fish and oyster sauces and let simmer briefly. Serve with fragrant rice.
