Matjes in onion and cream sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 packs of herring fillet(s)
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 1 clove(s) garlic

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 20 hours; Total time approx. 20 hours 10 minutes

First, mix the whipped cream with the sour cream. Slice the onions into rings and add them. Press or finely chop the garlic and add it as well. Rinse the herring fillets with water and place them in the sauce, then let the whole thing sit in the refrigerator for about 12-20 hours. This goes well with boiled potatoes or fried potatoes.
