Orange rice à la Gabi

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 150 g long grain rice
  • 100 g butter
  • 500 ml water
  • Salt
  • 1 orange(s)
  • 50 g almonds, chopped
  • 100 g raisins
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 pinch of ground saffron

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 24 minutes; Total time approx. 34 minutes

Wash the rice and drain well. Heat the butter in a saucepan, fry the rice for 4 minutes while stirring, then add water and season with salt. Peel the orange (including the white pith), cut into 3 cm pieces, add to the rice with the almonds, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes over low heat. Add a little more hot water if necessary. Add the raisins, sugar, and saffron just before the end of the cooking time and serve hot.
