A great party recipe, perfect for when guests come over or just for the family. It also tastes great with kids and teenagers.
First, fry the ground meat (get fresh from the butcher; I hate that “wormy” mince from the discount store) until it’s nice and crumbly and brown and crispy. Then add the finely diced onion and fry, followed shortly after by the finely chopped garlic cloves. Season everything with salt, pepper, paprika, and dried herbs. Set aside. Boil the frozen peas in boiling water for about 3 minutes. Drain in a sieve and set aside. Dice the bell peppers. Place two puff pastry rolls on a deep, ungreased baking sheet, leaving a border of pastry on two sides. The pastries should be a few centimeters on top of each other. Now, using the back of a tablespoon, spread the tomato paste evenly over the pastry base. Spread the ground meat over the top, then distribute the peas and bell peppers evenly over the top. Season lightly with salt, pepper, and oregano. Mix the egg with 1 tablespoon of cream, etc., and spread it roughly over the mixture using the tablespoon. Finally, sprinkle the grated cheese on top. Lay the remaining 2 puff pastry rolls over the mixture and lightly press down the sides. Since these are larger than the surface to be covered, you can cut off about 1/3 of a roll beforehand and use this for decoration (see pictures, e.g. stripes or whatever you like). Finally, use a brush to spread the egg yolk over the puff pastry for a beautiful color. Bake in a preheated oven (approx. 160 degrees) with fan for approx. 35-45 minutes until it has a beautiful golden brown color. Serve with a fresh salad – mmm! It really tastes so delicious and is great to prepare for guests etc. It also tastes perfect the next day, cold or briefly reheated in the preheated oven.
