Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 250 g pasta
- 500 g gyros meat
- 1 bell pepper(s), red
- 2 onions
- 150 g mushrooms, fresh
- 50 g tomato paste
- 200 g sour cream
- 400 g cream
- 4 cl Metaxa
- 125 g cheese, grated
- salt and pepper
- Paprika powder
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes
Cook the pasta in plenty of salted water, drain, and place in a baking dish. Fry the gyros in oil. Then add it to the baking dish. Wash and chop the vegetables, and fry them in the same oil used to fry the gyros. Season with salt and pepper. Add the vegetables to the baking dish with the gyros and pasta and mix well. Deglaze the oil with cream and stir in the sour cream. Now add the tomato paste and Metaxa. Add a little more tomato paste and Metaxa to taste. Season with salt and pepper, paprika, and other spices if desired. Pour the sauce over the ingredients in the baking dish, sprinkle with cheese, and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (convection oven) for 20-30 minutes.
