Matjes Fillet Salad, Housewife Style
The perfect matjes fillet salad, housewife style recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 250 g Herring fillets
- 50 g 1 Zwiebel
- 100 g Gherkins
- 150 g 1 Apfel
- 100 g Cooking cream
- 75 g Crème fraîche with herbs
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- 1 tbsp Light rice vinegar
- 2 big pinches Coarse sea salt from the mill
- 2 big pinches Colorful pepper from the mill
- 1 big pinch Colorful pepper from the mill
- Wash the herring fillets, pat dry with kitchen paper and cut into pieces (approx. 2 cm wide). Peel and quarter the onion, cut into thin slices and pull apart in strips. Cut the pickles into thin slices. Peel the apple, cut eighths, remove the core and cut everything into thin slices. Made from cooking cream (100 g), crème fraîche with herbs (75 g), lemon juice (1 tbsp), light rice vinegar (1 tbsp), coarse sea salt from the mill (2 big pinches), colored pepper from the mill (2 big pinches) and sugar (1 big pinch to make a marinade.) Put in a bowl and mix with the marinade. Let steep in the refrigerator overnight (approx. 12 hours) until serving.
