Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
…can also be prepared with pears…
For the dough, beat the butter with powdered sugar and salt until light and fluffy. Stir in the flour until crumbly. Then stir in the water and bring everything together by hand. You should now have a smooth, soft dough. Wrap in foil and chill for at least 1 hour. Meanwhile, for the filling, melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Stir in the Nutella. Mix the ground nuts with the cocoa and powdered sugar, add the chocolate mixture and the milk and mix to combine. Add a little more cocoa or sugar to taste. Peel and core the apples or pears, and dice them. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat). Once the dough is thoroughly chilled, roll it out into a rectangle about 5 mm thick. Spread it with the nougat mixture, leaving about 2 cm at one end of the longer side. Sprinkle the diced apples or pears on top of the nougat mixture. Now roll up from the longer side – the side without the cutout – and press the dough edge firmly into place. Line a baking sheet with baking paper and place the dough roll on it. Score the top several times with a sharp knife. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
