Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour
makes 7 screw-top glasses of 420 ml each
Grease 7 screw-top jars (420 ml) and sprinkle with ground nuts or breadcrumbs. Separate the eggs. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Then beat the egg yolks together with the sugar and vanilla sugar until very fluffy. Gradually add the butter and stir in. Melt the hazelnut spread slightly in a double boiler and let cool. Then stir into the egg mixture. Mix the baking powder with the flour and stir into the mixture alternately with the milk. Fold in the nuts and the beaten egg whites. Fill the prepared jars halfway (or slightly less) with batter and wipe the rims clean. Bake at 200°C for about 30 minutes. Use the skewer test to check if the cake is done. If the skewer comes out clean, remove the jars from the oven and immediately close the lids. These cakes make a great souvenir or—nicely packaged—a birthday present.
