Apple-pomegranate jam

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 pomegranates
  • 4 apples
  • 1 lemon(s)
  • 500 g sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

without gelling sugar, for the Thermomix TM 31

Halve the pomegranates and remove the seeds. Place the seeds in a pot with 2 tablespoons of water and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, until juice has formed. Strain the seeds through a sieve, reserving the juice and pressing out the remaining seeds. Peel and quarter the apples, remove the cores, and dice the flesh. Place the cubes in the TM with the juice of one lemon and heat for 10 minutes at 90°C on the “Stir” setting. Then puree the apples for 10 seconds on speed 4. Add the pomegranate juice and sugar to the apple puree and cook for about 25 minutes at 100°C on speed 2. In the meantime, rinse the jars with hot water and prepare them. Test for setting. If the jam doesn’t set yet, let it simmer a little longer. If the set test is satisfactory, the jam can be poured into the prepared jars. I used four 220 ml jars each, plus a small amount left over for immediate tasting. Let the jars cool and label them. You can, of course, make the jam without the TM. Please stir well while cooking, as it burns easily.
