Instructions
Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 10 minutes
The petals are carefully plucked off and set aside. For small, delicate flowers, such as violets, the whole blossoms can also be candied. The egg white is briefly beaten with a whisk until it looks slightly foamy. Then the blossoms are very carefully coated with the egg white and placed on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Once that’s done, they are sprinkled with sugar and dried in the oven at 50°C. How long this takes depends on your oven and the blossoms. For roses, it usually takes about two hours. Stored in a cool, dry place, they will last forever and are wonderful for decoration on cakes, cupcakes, or buffets. Candied blossoms or petals not only taste delicious, they also look beautiful and elegant and look great on cakes, cupcakes, cookies, or buffets. Important note: pay attention to food-grade quality when using flowers. You can get them in larger organic markets, well-stocked supermarkets, in wholesale stores, at the weekly market or from your own garden.
