Apple and onion chutney with turmeric

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 600 g apples, sour
  • 400 g vegetable onions
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 50 g sugar
  • 50 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 100 ml water
  • 1 chili pepper(s), red
  • 1 tsp peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Delicious as a dip for Camembert or meat dishes

Peel and finely dice the onions. Peel and core the apples, and cut into small cubes. Place the apples and onions in a saucepan, add the lemon juice, sugar, water, and vinegar, and mix well. Wash the chili pepper and place it in a large tea bag along with the peppercorns. Tie the bag with string and add it to the apple mixture. Finally, add the salt and turmeric. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and simmer for about 25 minutes, until the desired consistency is reached. Stir frequently. Ladle the chutney into prepared jars and seal tightly.
