Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 700 g bell pepper(s), red, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 medium-sized onions, chopped
  • 3 small chili peppers, chopped
  • 125 ml white vinegar
  • 110 g sugar, white fine
  • 50 g sugar, brown

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Heat the oil in a large pan; add the peppers, garlic, onions, and chilies; cook over low heat for about 20 minutes, or until the peppers are soft. Add the vinegar and white sugar, stirring without boiling until the sugar is dissolved. Simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes, until the mixture has thickened. Sprinkle in the brown sugar and stir well. Pour the jam into hot, sterilized jars and seal immediately. Makes about 375ml of jam. Delicious on grilled Turkish bread with sour cream, but also with cheese and meat.
