Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 850 g aronia berries, ripe
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 2 lemons
  • 1 vanilla pod(s)
  • 1 ½ bottles of rum

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest period approx. 14 days; Total time approx. 14 days 30 minutes

Pluck the aronia berries from the cones, wash them, and then thoroughly mash them in a large, lidded bowl. Tip: Wear disposable gloves, otherwise your hands will turn very red. Sprinkle the sugar over the berries. Rinse the lemons with hot water, finely grate the zest, and sprinkle it over the sugar. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise, scrape out the seeds, and sprinkle it over the sugar. Finally, pour the rum over the berries and cover. Stir everything the next day and let it steep for 14 days, stirring occasionally.
