Swede and potato gratin

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 m.-large turnip(s)
  • 500 g potatoes
  • 200 ml cream
  • 100 ml vegetable stock
  • 100 ml apple juice
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 small onions
  • 2 large apples, red
  • 3 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 1 bunch marjoram
  • 2 tbsp cane sugar
  • Fat for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Peel and slice the turnips and potatoes. Arrange them in a greased baking dish, tiled. Combine the cream, broth, and apple juice, season generously with pepper and freshly ground salt, and pour over the vegetables. Bake at 180°C for about 1 hour. Peel and slice the onions, wash and dice the apples. Fry in oil for about 7 minutes. Add the marjoram leaves to the mixture. Sprinkle the sugar over the top, let it caramelize for about 2 minutes, and spread it over the gratin.
