Baked Maultaschen

Slice the onions into rings and the apple into chunks. Fry them together in a pan until the onions are golden yellow. Then push the onions aside and let the sugar caramelize in the exposed area. When the sugar is ready, stir everything together again. Season with salt. Meanwhile, butter a baking dish. Place the Maultaschen in the dish and cover with the onions. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake in a preheated oven (180°C top/bottom heat) for 20 minutes, but sprinkle with pepper first.
